1st time getting braids!!!

Hey all. I know I haven't posted anything in a while. So please forgive me but I have been busy. I want to talk about an event that happened on the 11th of September. Okay So I had a new client book an appointment for Saturday A.M @ 10 to get some Butt length Faux locs done. So boom Saturday morning comes and I get up at 8 just to make sure things are ready for her you know clean towel for after I wash her hair and clean combs and brushes and wipe off the salon chair.

So boom, 9:35 a.m gets here and I text her and say good morning and I ask her how she is doing. She responds by saying she is running late and needs to come at little later. Of course I told her that is fine . I mean I dedicated my whole day to her due to this style. It is an all day process. So then she texts back and says she is stopping by the hair store to get more hair. She already had the hair she wanted to use but I guess she'd somehow figured she would need more. So I tell her okay I'm here. Okay so 10:45 gets here and she pulling up. She gets out the car and I see this beautiful woman with the most beautiful head of hair I have worked with so far in my styling career ,heading towards me. My first thoughts were, omg she has the perfect head of hair for this style. I am going to SLAY this!!!! She comes closer and I greet her introducing myself. She comes inside and I tell her to head straight to the kitchen to do the washing process of the prepping system I use.

I washed her hair and we headed to the livingroom to start the process of installing her faux locs. We had a really nice conversation while I prepped the hair extensions that I was going to use for this style. It was then that she told me she had never had any type of braided hairstyle in her life and this was her very 1st time getting braids!! I began to notice that she brought only one type of hair. I asked where the other hair was because I normally use 2 types of hair for this style. She began to tell me that the lady at the hair store told her to get this one kind, that it was bendable and she got her hair done in New York and this was the only type of hair the stylist who did her hair used for the installation. I was like yeah right that lady was lying. But I just went on ahead and tried it out for myself. So boom I get the first step of the process complete which is platting her hair into individual braids so I could later go back around and attach the locs. Now it was truth or dare time. I began the process of installing the locs and I got about 4 done and decided this was not going to work. Even with my expertise in doing this style now for many clients I have never ran into this problem even though I knew of it's exsistence. The locs were starting to unravel. The hair was human hair and was entirely too soft to possibly lock into place and create the look I was aiming for.

So now i had to tell her what I thought about the process so far. I turned to her said" yeah this ain't gonna work, This hair is to soft by itself to lock into place the way I need it to to create the beautiful style we are aiming for and I don't have any extra hair to use to make up for it. I then told her I could try and do some box braids with the hair we already had out of the packages and separated into 120 individual pieces on my braiding racks..... lol. She was so nervous and said she'd always despised box braids due them looking like a childish hairstyle. I looked her in her beautiful little eyes and said "trust me", I promise you will LOVE the way look!" Do you know she said Okay....." I was so shocked I nearly started sweating. I was so excited I got to work right away and I began one by one taking each individual braid down which by the way was a little longer than shoulder length. I then began installing the Box Braids. (Note to ALL: I DO NOT recommend trying to braid with curly silky human hair!! If you are not a PRO at braiding, it will be impossible to do!!)

Anyways, I was finished about 10 hours later and no I'm not kidding, it was literally 10 hours later!!!! I LOVED every moment of it because I looked at it like a challenge. I EXCELLED at the results !!! I turned her around in that chair and she LOVED her CROWN!!!! That is what I live for!! That satisfying look on my clients face, the joy that fills the room when they know they look absolutely beautiful with MY help. I love it!! I love helping others. It's why I went into this business in the first place. I did her lashes as well and she was estatic!! She said she never gets dolled up anymore she never has time for herself and she just wanted to take a leap of faith and do something different and spice things up in her hair life. The fact that she walked out of my shop with that feeling of accomplishment, meant every minute of that whole 10 hours. Thank you My Sylviamonica for your time and patience and consideration. You were the sweetest person to have had to sit for so long. I'm so grateful you loved the way I "Crowned Your Beauty".

Of course I added pictures of my newest creation, Butterfly, Bohemian, Goddess Box Braids!!! Absolutley GORG.!!!
